The MILO® Champions League

DEVELOPING CHAMPIONS ON AND OFF THE PITCH

The MILO® Champions League (MCL) is Ghana’s leading primary school football competition, created by Nestlé Ghana to discover young talent and promote holistic youth development. For over 30 years, the league has grown into a powerful national platform, engaging thousands of school children across all regions and helping to shape the future of Ghanaian football.

Since its inception in the late 1990s, the MILO® Champions League has played a significant role in nurturing young players while building values that extend beyond sport. Although the competition experienced a brief hiatus between 2020 and 2024, it returned stronger in 2025, continuing its commitment to developing both talent and character among Ghana’s youth.

The league follows a structured national format that allows children to progress through different levels of competition. It begins at the district stage, where schools compete locally, then advances to zonal or regional qualifiers, and finally culminates in the national finals, where the best teams compete for the championship. This journey provides young players with valuable experience and exposure to competitive football.

At the heart of the MILO® Champions League are values that guide every participant. The competition promotes discipline, respect, teamwork, confidence, resilience, and healthy living while also emphasizing that education remains a priority. Through this balanced approach, the league helps children develop into confident, responsible, and well-rounded individuals.

The MCL also creates meaningful opportunities for young participants. It serves as a platform for talent discovery, opening pathways into football academies and higher levels of the sport, while also offering mentorship from experienced role models and football legends. In addition, it equips participants with essential life skills such as leadership, communication, and teamwork, all of which contribute to personal growth and self-confidence.

Inclusivity remains a key focus of the competition. The league ensures representation from all regions and provides opportunities for children from diverse backgrounds, including girls and differently abled participants. This inclusive approach ensures that every child has the chance to participate, develop their abilities, and be recognized.

Beyond football, the MILO® Champions League continues to make a lasting impact on individuals and communities. It strengthens community bonds, empowers young people to pursue positive paths, and inspires hope and ambition among participants.

Ultimately, the MCL is more than just a tournament—it is a platform that nurtures future and helps raise champions both on and off the field.

MEET OUR 2026 WINNERS

The 2026 Champions League delivered unforgettable moments, incredible talent, and nonstop excitement from start to finish. What a tournament it was! From the 20th to the 25t h of April, the coastal city of Sekondi-Takoradi came alive with the thunder of young feet, the roar of passionate crowds, and the infectious energy that only Ghana's most beloved youth football tournament can produce. The Essipong Stadium was more than avenue it was a stage, and our young champions owned every inch of it.

This year's theme, 'Raising Champions: From Ghana to The World', was not just a tagline. It was a declaration. A bold, proud statement that the talent nurtured on these green pitches has what it takes to shine on the global stage. And after what we witnessed in Takoradi, there is absolutely no doubt about it.
